Abbey and friends, 39cm handmade felt dolls

Abbey is a 39cm tall handmade felt doll with some close friends and a stylish wardrobe.

Skill level: some sewing and knitting required.  The doll itself is sewn entirely by hand although you can sew her fabric legs by machine if you’d prefer.  Her wardrobe is composed over both knitted and sewn clothes and she often wears her friend’s clothes because all patterns are interchangeable.

How these kits work:

All the Abbey and friends cylinder kits make ideal gifts, for crafty friends and new grandmothers – they’ll have fun adding new outfits over time.  They are also well suited to new sewers and knitters or older children.

One idea that works well is if you make up the doll yourself then pop her back in the cylinder with the felt, fabric and patterns – children are always inspired to get to work creating clothes. 

Each kit offers the opportunity to further their skills, practice sewing on the machine and explore a range of different handwork techniques in small achievable projects.   This size doll may take a little longer to make than Lily, our handheld doll but she is just as straight forward, less fiddly and offers more choices in terms of clothes.

Cylinder kits: All kits come packaged in a handmade dolls cylinder and contain everything you’ll need to create the doll of your choice dressed in a variety of outfits from a single dress to a coordinated capsule collection.

If you love both sewing and knitting you have a number of options.  Similarly, if you only sew, choose either, Daisy, Caitlin, Ruby or Rose and add some extra sewing patterns to your kit to create more clothes.

• handmade felt dolls and accessories our 47 page book with easy to follow doll instructions , patterns, templates and advice. Please note: all kits will include this book

• 2mm pure wool felt for your doll’s body, Kaffe Fassett striped fabric for her legs, pure merino yarn for hair and eyes, any notions and embroidery you’ll need, an ak book of sewing needle,

• all 100% wool felt, coordinated fabrics and / or ak traditions 100% Merino knitting yarn required to make your chosen kit.
