As a child I loved the fat, chocolate chooks-in-basket that appeared on shelves every Easter. Recently when putting together a simple project for my youngest granddaughter to make as an Easter gift those chickens sprang to mind. But first we needed a small, reasonably priced wicker basket because as luck would have it I’d just culled my basket collection. This proved surprisingly difficult and I ended up tweaking my chicken template to fit the basket that she chose. Abbey did a brilliant job and had so much fun making her chicken that it has evolved into a formal pattern that includes both the chicken and a simple felt basket... no more frustrating basket hunts.
