Living creatively means surrounding yourself with things that bring colour and pleasure to everyday life. Women in Kyrgystan traditionally created decorative sacks and pouches to store the domestic necessities of nomadic life. Sewing equipment and scissors were treasured and stashed safely in small, lovingly embroidered bags that were a source of pride to the maker. Many cultures regard personal possessions like sewing kits in a similar way and these items were often the first things to be made by a young sewer. This wallet design is loosely based on the traditional folded wallets favoured by men in central Asia but its design works well for as a personal sewing kit or as a special gift for a friend who loves to travel.
