The story of the rabbit in the moon is an age old Chinese folk story which has migrated to Japan and become part of cultural tradition.  children in Japan and also in Vietnam believe they can see a rabbit sitting in the moon pounding mochi.

Rabbits are now a important element in the autumn Moon festival celebrations and are regarded as messengers, mediators between the earth and the moon.  As a result rabbit designs abound and this mobile plays homage to traditional indigo and white wood block textiles.

This sweet simple mobile is sewn by hand using handmade and dyed felt.  available in classic blue and white or pink and white.
